It was the time of gloaming, after the sun had kissed the horizon goodbye, and before the world began to slight with the fire of stars. However, nothing would light up the night now, for huge cumulonimbus clouds were rolling in from the north, ready to unleash their fury on the world. - I bet it's snowing in Ruin. - the female thought darkly, as her white coat seemed to glow in the dusk. She looked around sharply, flitting her ears back and forth to the sounds of her environment. She was deep in enemy territory, the Old Town of Parodi, about a half-day's journey, perhaps a little less, from Ruin. - Damn, this was a foolish idea. - And she was correct in assuming so. Harbringer rose to her feet, stretching out her muscles as she prepared to slink back home. Her motives for being here were as clouded as the charcoal-color of her eyes, but now her instincts took over, and she lept down from her perch. Pausing to stretch out her muscles, she felt the satisfying crack of bone and joint before starting off again. Letting her magnificent muscles guide the way, the massive femme fatale began to lope towards the north, the last dying rays of the sun causing her white fur to emit a ghastly glow. For all her prowess, she stopped suddenly, startled by something. Her paws skidded for a second in the snow that had already been laid down, black claws leaving gouges in the permafrost. It was scent - a musk, an odor, that caught her attention. She swung her angular face to each side, eyes moving imperceptibly in the black sockets. It was a fresh smell, too. This wasn't necessarily a worry, unless there were more than one Parodi here to accost her. Perhaps they didn't even know she was here yet. That had to be it -- I am a master of deception, an inkstain in the black of night. - it was just one of those thickskulled droolers off on a little night romp. She allowed her lip to curl up slightly in amusement. It would be just like that fucking lackadaisical General to allow his minions to just wander off in search of amusement. Perhaps they would be served for her amusement, not his own. Deciding that since the cent was singular, and no wolf, even a Parodi, would be that asinine as to think they could take the great white Harbringer of the North. No way in hell. - So perhaps this might be fun. - Suddenly, a howl split the night. It was most certainly masculine, and had a charismatic quality to the deep baritone. Ah, this would be fun indeed. She had no authority here, she was trespassing, and he would have every right to try to take her to his General, but no, he would not. The tone was longing, and even if he knew she was here, he wouldn't act on it. He was alone, and that she knew for sure. Despite him being a Parodi, he wouldn't have enough sense to try to run off and get someone to help bring her down. No, no, but she would go meet him, and see what he had to offer. The Harbringer was not anxious, despite this being a rival. She had no certainty that she wouldn't be involved in a fight tonight, but she was strong and fast, so she would escape relatively unharmed. It had begun to snow by the time Atrox had pinpointed the sound, and the air was once again filled with the lush moisture, littering it upon the ground. Had it not been for her deep, black eye sockets and markings, then she would be nearly invisible. But as it was not such, the contrast stood out sharply and ghostly in the night. The wind managed to ruffle her fur, causing the long silk to billow in the night as she approached the male. He was positioned alongside the stone ruins, back to a wall. - Fuck it, he's gigantic.. - She sized him up, and stared at him through the flurries - Large, but judging by that, his brain probably isn't. He doesn't look too foreboding, though.. - If she walked up to him, he was about a head taller than her, perhaps a little bit less. She was large for a female, and he for a male. No matter, despite his size, she had no doubts in her own prowess. After all, she was not Harbringer for nothing. Deciding to make her presence known, she stepped forward until she was just outside of the male's area of motion, and raised one brow at him. Unsure of his motives, but not of herself, she raises her neck into a graceful arch, becoming of a young Harbringer. Her ears pricked up and muzzle pointed down, guarding her neck. Atrox watched him cautiously from behind her black mask, staring down her angular nose at his frame. Before he had a chance to speak, she did, "I assume you aren't as ignorant as your fellows, and know who I am. But never let it be said that I overestimated a Parodi's brain, so let me introduce myself - Atrox Fatalis, Harbringer of Engali." She paused, tilting her head somewhat, and swishing her tail once. "Not going to lunge at my throat like a rabid badger? Smart of you." Feigning shock, she snorted, and said, "How amusing, I think I just complimented you. Don't let it go to that head of yours, although I'm sure it could use a little extra size." She sneered at him, then let her face fall back into its predictable mask of coldness, her characteristic brow lowered and lips turned down. Deciding to drop the antics, she flicked an ear and tipped her head again, raising it a bit off her neck to show elevated trust, but never lowering it, reminding him of her status. "But I am curious as to why you are here. All alone in a snowstorm, without any of your fellows. And you Parodi are supposed to be thick as thieves." She let out a soft rumble that was usually as close to a laugh as you'd get out of her, "But I suppose you could say the same to me. However, at least you're not in enemy territory.." With this, the white female sat, gesturing with a flick of her tail that he could follow if he wished. Now hr head was raised, nearly at eye level with him. However her posture was not hostile, and she had no desire to fight with him right now. This male proposed an enigma, and this was one she resolved to solve.

- Thought. - "Speech."
Atrox's grey eyes peered out from beneath the plumes of black that flowed elegantly away from the edge of her eyes. Deep in the sockets, the grey twitched, a minute sparkle of amusement becoming known. Letting herself grin softly, she pondered this male. Definitely Parodi, if his masculine scent meant anything to her. But he was alone, and intelligent enough not to try something shifty. As he pondered her words, she looked at him curiously. This male was strong, but it didn't appear that he was ready to fight, nor was he going to flee. That should be interesting. With a soft tilt of her head, allowing her white fur to frame the muscles there as she sat, she looked at him. His fur was nearly as black as the night above, flecked with gentle flakes of snow. Watching intently as his ears flicked forward as he learned of her identity, she tensed, ready to void off any attack this pathetic Parodi could make on her. However, he didn't move other than to give her a light smirk, which she returned with a steely glint in her eyes. Relaxing, she allowed herself to recline a bit more on the rock nearby, her front legs splayed akimbo to show off their length as she curled her fluffy tail around, flicking it across his front paws to gesture that he should sit, too. - What the fuck is he playing at? - She wondered at his words, - ' I like my bitches stuck up. Seems you mastered that huh? smart ass. Though I find you quite fine, for entertainment purposes ' - either the idiotic Parodi was complimenting her in a back-handed, hormone-driven way, or he was simply toying with her. Atrox noticed his disregard of her, and she raised her eyebrows up, but lowering her black lids so that nearly no grey could be seen, but she could still view him. She offered him a soft smirk, and blinked once slowly at him. - Damn males. I should just get up and leave. - But Atrox was never one to leave an enigma, and this male certainly was one. Exhaling lowly, she continued to listen, still keen on his body, looking for telltale signs of lying. ' I don't sleep well at night, Atrox... Snowstorms don't bother me, I'm used to it. Now...allow me to introduce myself...I go by Shadow. Major of Parodi....I kill ' Atrox glared at the Parodi for daring to use her name, but then the glint was lost. Hmm, why was this male an insomniac? Then she laughed, a deep, sensual chuckle resonating from her large ribcage out her black lips. Was he unable to sleep because he was a murderer? She snorted at that, and said, "Boy, you know nothing of the slaughter." She arched herhead back and placed her muzzle in a position to guard her chest as he moved forward, but he did not attack. Snorting, she wondered why. It seemed almost like he was tolerating her presence - imagine that, a Parodi tolerating the Harbringer of Engali. it was laughable. - and didn't want to give either of them away. The snow continued to swirl around them, and no signs of life were seen. Pondering how alone they truly were, but not worried, she caught only the end of his sentence - "Or are you looking for a good time eh?". Snorting lightly at his audacity, he raised a few bars in her opinion. Obviously he was joking - even if she was the horniest wolf in their lands, she'd never lower herself to a quick fuck with a Parodi. Obviously it was a joke, and a humorous one at that. - At least he's got wit. Not enough to match mine, but perhaps he will serve as entertainment... Just not in the way he desires. - She sneered at that, and leaned forward until they were nearly touching, and said, "Ah, Shadow, you see, I go wherever I please. I am a Fatalis for the Gods' sake. And Harbringer of Engali at that. If I desired to, oh, say go sit on you, then you'd be helpless but to allow me. Any wolf would." With a snort, she ended that. He'd be comfier than the cold ground, and she longed for a patch of warm grass. But warm fur could be even better, no? Still - this was a Parodi we were talking about. He wasn't fit to warm her ass. "By good time, I assume you mean going around in a snowstorm? As for your earlier question, I am here to investigate. There were Parodi around our border the other day, and so thus I decided to investigate. Nothing better than the Harbringer herself to do the job. Unlike your General, I actually do work instead of licking myself all day." She said, voice dripping with hatred and disdain. It was the truth - two or three Parodi had been scented just within Engali lands, and she needed to go out and scout for them. Her Nightmares were patrolling near Bloody Basin, and her Bloodbanes had recently caught an elk. It was an easy job, so she took it up alone. Looking up, the Harbringer's grey met his gold, and she stared intently at him, black vines and lashes obscuring any thought she could have hid in her face at that time. She smirked at his audacity to sit in front of her, noses nearly touching if she had been a half-head taller. No matter, this was an idiot she was playing with at the moment. Deciding to humor him, she asked, "So, tough Shadow, Most Noble and High Major of Parodi, why have you decided to spare such a weak female as myself? You asserted yourself as a killer earlier - why not bury those ivories in my ivory neck?" she questioned, sarcasm dripping from her voice. She had no doubt that they would match each other in a fight - it would be intense, but she had every faith in her Engali upbringing, and knew that if it came to bloodshed, he would end up warming her ass.

As silently as the snow fell, Atrox's thoughts flew through her head. She watched, calculatingly so, as the male seated himself as she had asked, and relaxed, letting his tongue loll out of his gigantic black maw. Atrox caught his tail twitch, and noted this, wondering what that insecurity was about. Sniffing once and exhaling shortly to clear her nostrils of the flakes, she noted that his scent was heavy of Parodi. - But if anyone smells this on me, they'll know I was out killing, not socializing. - She thought, then wondered whether or not she should be leaping at this wolf's throat. Oh well, she supposed the injuries she would sustain when fighting him wouldn't be worth it, not with her still healing. No matter, so she continued to listen to his tale. "I know a lot more about slaughter than you think....I've had my own experiences with the iron taste of blood running from my mouth, staining my fangs...I enjoyed the bitter taste of my Mother's blood running off my tongue, along with the smell of her rotting corpse.", Shadow had said, and at this, the Fatalis raised a brow. So the male had killed someone precious to him, had he? Or perhaps she wasn't loved at all, and he had hated the bitch that raised him. Whatever his cause, Atrox was sure it probably wasn't noble. Not that she or the Engali had anything to do with nobility, they were so much more cunning and intelligent than Parodi, fighting dirty if they got the chance. but this male seemed more Engali than Parodi anyways - at least he was daring enough to try to make conversation with her. "Killing out of hatred means several things, Shadow," the Harbringer paused, and then continued, straightening her posture a bit. "One, if you're willing to kill your own mother rather than attempt to a rival alpha - the Harbringer of Engali, then you must be quite cunning. It also means that you had deep enough reasons to do so. However, I'm not an idiot - I won't ask. but still, if you think that's the worst crime you can commit, then you've another thing coming." Atrox finished and took a breath, now sitting straight up, glaring at the male with a bemused expression. She laughed at his next comment, and wondered exactly where this male had learned to flirt. It was almost as bad as 'if i had a flower every time you made me smile, i'd have a whole garden!' type of lines. Atrox snorted at him, and raised her brows as he rose above her, warm breath fogging around her face, veiling her sharp black markings. Not to be phased, she let out a low growl, saying, "Of course you would, otherwise I'd just go elsewhere. There are more than enough Engali wanting to kiss my ass." she let out a sensual chuckle. "But at least they can do other things. You appear to only be useful enough for the job of warming my pretty little ass." " Good time, eh? Well, it all depends on how you interpret it, am I right?…Oh, no need to take such low blows at our General. What ever shall I do if you insult him…" he had said, and she let out a slight snarl, laced with amusement. "Go ahead, walk up to any of my Engali and try insulting me. I guarantee you'll walk away without a head." With that, Atrox raised her head proudly - she knew that as much as her wolves respected and admired her, they would defend her honor with their jaws. at his next comment, "Well, this could pass for work. Having a conversation with one of my Nightmares or Bloodbanes couldn't be taken as work. but then again, I am the boss." she deadpanned, and raised a brow at him, obviously unimpressed at his Major status. With that, the conversation paused for a few moments, before he leaned forward, muzzle even with hers, and she, never to be outdone, steadfastly glared at him as his muzzle dipped lower. "I could punish you..." he said, trailing off seductively, and she flared her nostrils and ignored the heat of his comment as it flared in her abdomen. what the male dared to do next shocked her, as he took her neck in his teeth and bit down, sharply stinging her with his canines, pulling several of her hairs with him as he released her neck just as suddenly. She wasn't mad, no, of course not. She'd been touched by Parodi before, and their esteemed General had even buried his teeth in her scruff... she trailed off, disgusted, and lost that train of thought as she snapped back to reality as he continued talking. With his words, she gave a mighty snort and smirked at him, baring her canines as well. "If you have a thing for love-bites..." she trailed off, then lunged at him, lightning quick, attempting to snap at his shoulder quickly, then went back to where she had been standing - intending to break the skin only as a warning. He had deserved it, too, daring to touch her. what had he been thinking? No matter - certainly he would learn his lesson now.
